SYSTEM LOGGING
Introduction
DNA Evolution is equipped with a complete web based system logging and debugging tool. StorageDNA support, administrators and partners can utilize the tool.
ENABLING SYSTEM LOGGING
System logging can be enabled on a per archive manager/controller basis. To view the log settings screen, browse to Clients->Select the appropriate archive manager/controller->Logging & Statistics. Then click on Change Log Settings. The following page will open. (See screenshot will open).
The system allows you to set log levels for various different underlying software modules. Once enabled, these modules will begin writing detailed logs.
NOTE: Viewing SYSTEM Logs Log outputs can be very detailed. Please turn off logging when done debugging.
System logging can be viewed by clicking on the “View Logs” button at the bottom of the page. (See screenshot below)
The top level folder displays the GUID of the archive managers/controller. All logs are maintained within each machine’s parent GUID folder. (See screenshot below)
For each module, logs can be viewed and for each log, the system displays the number of CRITICAL errors and WARNINGS enabling the user to quickly decide if a log should be further reviewed. (See screenshot below).
Each log can in turn be viewed and searched in detail. CRITICAL and WARNING are automatically highlighted as well (See screenshot below).
Logs can in turn be downloaded and sent to StorageDNA support for further analysis by clicking the download icon.
